Of All Things

Of All Things is a multi-sensory experience situated somewhere between art installation and dance performance, submerging the audience in a surrealistic world for 50 minutes. The audience sits in the round and the stage space evolves revealing and concealing 6 dancers who perform alongside, with and underneath objects and lighting elements that share the stage with their own performativity.

Employing ingenious design elements in union with a company of astounding dancers, Of All Things takes audiences on an unexpected journey into perception. The result of a collaboration between director/ choreographer Alison Currie, interior design firm Enoki and Australian Dance Theatre ensemble dancers.

The title Of All Things is in response to the idea that at a microscopic level all things; plants, animals, and people, are the same – all of atoms. With this as a starting point the key creatives; Alison Currie, Enoki designers, Sascha Budimski,Chris Petridis and ADT ensemble dancers, developed an imagined alternate world with its own timeframe for the evolution of new life forms and connections to their immediate environment. Through this frame, Of All Things sheds light on how people treat each other and the world around them.

Of All Things is a significant work in Alison’s ongoing investigation into object and subject in performance.

Of All Things was commissioned by Garry Stewart when he was Artistic Director of Australian Dance Theatre and created with and performed by the company in 2020. Full credits on Of All Things project pages
