Drawing Machine is an interactive dance work and drawing experiment. It premiered as part of Acts Re-Acts 2: Space and Place at Wimbledon Space, London.

The drawing machine is an enlarged pantograph. Here you can see it being used to trace a drawing and direct the dancers movement on the other end of the machine.

Drawing Machine

Ink soaked socks on the dancers feet create drawings while she performs. Her positioning on the paper is directed by what is being traced with the pantograph.

The choreography was a direct development of choreography created for '42a'. The two projects are linked 'Drawing Machine' being an evolution of '42a' in the methods of interactive dance performance and sculpture / dance collaboration.
